- “Promtechnologii” demonstrates unique new ORSIS T-5000 Sniper Rifle
The combat specifications of the new rifle were demonstrated as part of the recent Nizhny Tagil arms expo by the leading expert of “Promtechonologii”, Dmitry Semizorov, a famous precision shooting. He used factory standard rounds against destructible targets at ranges of 100, 300, and 540 meters. The accuracy of the rifle elicited applause from the specialists and VIPs presents.
The technical capabilities of the ORSIS-5000 rifle allow it to guarantee engagement of targets at any time of the day and night, without technical preparation or additional shots fired at range of up to 1.5 kilometers.
The rifle is produced in two calibers: .308 Winchester for short and medium ranges and .338 Lapua Magnum for medium and long ranges, and is intended for use by Russian counter-terrorist and special-operations units.
According to their developers, the rifles stand out, first and foremost, for their high-class materials. Almost the entire rifle, and especially its main parts (the barrel and bolt/chamber group) are made from high-grade stainless steel, allowing for unbelievably high accuracy and range.
A second major part of the armorers’ success is the technology. First and foremost – the rifilng method. The manufacturers utilize mandrelling and single-pass cutting, both allowing for near-ideal barrel geometry and work cleanness. The barrels made by these technologies are rightfully known as works of the engineering art.
The Moscow arms factory owned by the company is the first in Europe to manufacture rifle barrels using single-pass cutting on computer-controlled equipment. “We are the only company in the world that uses such technologies on an industrial scale”, – A. Kostin added.
He also stressed the fact that “Promtechnologii” is a full-cycle company. “We make the rifle completely and assemble it. All our solutions are unique. The barrel, bolt, frame – all of them are made using our own technological solutions”, said the Orsis representative – “Our advantage is the fact we study the world’s industrial and technological experience, rework it artistically and add some of our own inventions.”
THe company’s production was very popular at Nizhny Tagil, eliciting interest from both our near and far neighbors, including European and even Australian representatives. And Russian consumers- are they interested in such delicate, complex work? A. Kostin says that the company is already working with the Russian MoDs. “We had experts come here, of the highest rank, and they have given us very flattering comments. We had practically every professional and high-accuracy shooter from the various armed services. Let’s just say they’ve stayed long. Compared to what they have, our rifles are like diamonds, they’re really pleasant to just hold in your hands,” he stressed.
He stated that the advantage of the company is also in the fact that the company developers see and feel their audience. “We incorporate among our staff not just armorers and metalworking experts, but experienced shooters – sportsmen and hunters with years of experience. We understand, we feel, we know what is important, we know where the market is going and quite often we even start trends. We know for example what they do in the West. Our production is part of the elite of arms production. Our rifles and their performance will tell you that. That says it all,” – A. Kostin concluded.
The rifle body is made of light alloys, the handle is an ergonomic pistol grip, the stock is adjustable, its folding mechanism is made of steel with a magnetic system for fixing it closed. Glass-bedding is incorporated in the standard model. The rifle uses a Picatinny rail for its optical scope and another for a scope enhancement.
The rifle’s metallic part are either made in a matte or Cerakote-black finish.
The trigger mechanism varies in different models:
“Hunter” – adjustable, 1000-1500-gram pull
“Varmint” – - adjustable, 500-900-gram pull
Weight: 5.6-5.8 kilograms
Magazine: detachable, 5-10 rounds
The rifle is available in both a left-handed and a right-handed configuration.
